revolves around the theme of impermanence and repetition through found objects and materials while using space(s) to anticipate and activate new meanings. My body of work aims to touch on the notion of temporality and play around the theme of structure and contradictions; anticipation and ‘anti-climax’.

Whoosh, Bang, Splash
was an attempt to commodify the image of ‘firework exploding in the sky, providing the audience with a visual display yet displacing them. Being a site and event-specific work, it aimed to create a space for people to enjoy the firework display while it was in motion collectively. Yet, it toys around the idea of anticipation and anti-climatic gesture where the audiences are baited into a fireworks treat only to be greeted with an extremely slow firework explosion; one might explode without any sound or one that is not very visible but heard. The work aimed to adopt a dialectical method using fireworks as the medium to unravel our societal structures and culture as a disclosure of the contradictions.2018

Trophies
often represent success or monumental occasions in one's life. This series was inspired by the concept of breaking a coconut as an auspicious act signifying a new beginning or an act of self-offering. In contrast, in many African cultures, the act implies chasing away evil spirits. However, the coconut is presented as broken in this series as a symbol of a new beginning and as a memory of the past. The metallic foil mimics the traditional metal trophies while suggesting celebrations of possible futures.2022
